Romas Yakov Dorofeevich (1902–1969) People’s Artist of the USSR (1965), full member of the Academy of Fine Arts of the USSR (1958). The chief artist of All-Union Agricultural Exhibition (1950-1954). Studied at Moscow’s VKhuTeMas – VKhUTeIN (1924-1930). Soviet artist and one of the pioneers of Soviet design. Typical of his paintings are landscape compositions and with predominance of big water thematic (“On the rafts”, 1947, The State Tretyakov Gallery, State Prize of USSR, 1948).Works are preserved at the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), State Russian Museum(St. Petersburg), and in regional museums of ex-USSR.
