Setting Sails del Quay. Oil on Board. 24x32 cm. Signed lower right.

A plein air study of the sail boats by

Clare Bowen, a landscape artist living in Surrey. She grew up on Hayling, a small island in Hampshire on the south coast of England where water and boats were never far away. Today big water still constantly inspires her. Clare became a professional artist in 2015. She started to paint in 2009 as a studio artist whilst making her first attempts to paint outside with experienced plein air painters on workshops. She gradually set herself with all the basic equipment and eventually plein air paintings took over. Today alla prima style (in one attempt) is her favorite as she loves the challenge of trying to catch the fleeting light, color and movement. Her favourite subjects: Venice, London and Surrey and Hampshire countryside. Clare has been exhibiting with NEAC and ROI and has got a number of Awards including Highly Commended Award, The Artist Magazine 2019, Royal Talents Award 2017,18. The Artist Exhibition Award at The Patchings Art Centre 2017,18. As a qualified and experienced teacher Clare also does painting demonstrations for individuals, art groups and societies.
