A talented painter, follower of traditions of Russian plein air school.
Graduated from the Sverdlovsk Art Institute (1959), then studied at the Moscow Surikov Art Institute for the Arts, where his tutors were academicians Sokolov-Skalia and Tsyplakov.
He became famous due to his picture “Past marches” (State Russian Museum). Honoured Artist of Russia. Had personal exhibitions in 1981 in Moscow and in 2005 in Kolomna. The works of G.P.Soroguin are preserved at the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, at the State Russian Museum, and in a number of regional museums.
