One of the works from the famous Chukotka series by
Yakovlev Andrey Alekseevich (1934-2012)
a well-known St.Petersburg artist. He is the creator of picturesque series from the life of Russian North and Polar region, created in 1960-1980s:
"Shpitsbergen", "Chukotka", "Taymyr".
He graduated from the Moscow Surikov Art Institute (1953-1956) and later studied at the Repin’s Institute in St. Petersburg 1956-1960 under the tutelage of the professor E.E. Moiseenko. For the numerous works produced in the creative trips to Siberia and at the construction of the Baikal-Amur trainline, the artist was awarded the Medal “For the Construction of the Baikal-Amur trainline.” He was an Honoured Artist of Russia. Laureate of the State Prize named after I.E. Pepin of the Russian Federation.
In 2004 the Russian museum in St. Petersburg dedicated the exhibition “Jubilees 2004” to the artist’s 70th anniversary.
Artist’s paintings are exhibited at the State Russian Museum in S.Petersburg.
