Joao California (born.1958)
Portuguese-American landscape painter. He has become well known for his use of vibrant colours that elicit light, life, energy and interpretive landscapes. He incorporates his Portuguese roots along with influences of great French fauvists and California impressionists. Joao was born in Portugal and as a young boy immigrated with his family to the United States. In 1978, the artist settled on California Monterey Peninsula where he shares his talents with the local community as well as international art enthusiasts. He has been a member of several art organizations and had quite a few solo exhibits held at California’s art galleries.
