Silin Aleksandr Semenovich (1921-2010)

Prominent Russian artist. Was born in the village of Chudskaya Rudnitsa, Pskov district. Participant of the WWII. Studied at the Vilnius art Institute at the faculty of painting (1945-1951), taught there after graduation.  Moved to Pskov in 1963. Since 1964 – the artist of the House of culture of trade unions and the national theater of the young spectator, teacher at the Children's art school (1967-1981). Since 1968 – honored artist of the Russian Federation, a member of the Artists’ Union of the USSR. One of the founders of the Pskov regional branch of the Artists’ Union of the USSR and its first chairman (1981). The initiator of the construction of creative workshops, the opening of the people's gallery, the creation of art and production workshops of the Art fund of the RSFSR. Participated in many exhibitions of Pskov artists, had personal exhibitions in Pskov, other cities of Russia and abroad. Silin's works are presented in the Pskov art gallery, museums of Russia and in private collections.
